A day in which you write something is a day well-spent

For me, as an author, it is important to get the general idea of a story down on paper before starting to write. After that, it’s all a matter of filling in subplots. Unfortunately, sometimes my thoughts don’t come together all that well, and I lose track of where my story is. I know where, ultimately, it is going, but not the in-between parts. Character interactions have always come easy to me, however, the detailed settings of the characters sometimes eludes me. I’m unsure how to conquer this block.
